James “Jim” Edward Wilson

Mr. James “Jim” Edward Wilson, 78, of Latham Wilson Road, Lawndale, went to
his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 29, 2018
at his home.

Born in Cleveland County on November 2, 1939, Jim was a son of the late
Latham Maxwell Wilson and Emma Gold Wilson. He began his career as a barber
in February of 1959 and has continuous barbered for almost sixty years, with
his wife by his side for over forty years they owned and operated Wilson’s
Barber Shop in Shelby. He also had the privilege to start his daughter in
the barber trade and work with her until she opened her own shop in
Fallston.

Jim was also a Charolais cattle farmer though out his adult life. His
cattle farming would allow him to work with his son who continues the family
tradition. Jim was a member of the Cleveland County Cattleman’s Association
and inducted into their hall of fame in 2018. He was also a lifelong member
of the Future Farmers of America and the National Rifle Association.

Jim loved to watch his Duke Blue Devils play basketball, but the thing that
brought him the most joy and excitement was watching his grandkids play
sports. He tried to make every game, and he was their number one fan. He
and his wife, Doris, were both honored as the Cleveland County Sports Fan of
the Year in 2011.

He was also a strong believer in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. An
active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church he was a member of the
United Methodist Men.

Jim enjoyed square dancing and was a member of be Belwood Squares until they
dissolved.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his two brothers,
Robert G. Wilson and C. Boyd Wilson.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Doris Dellinger Wilson;
son, Terry Wilson and wife, Renee of Lawndale; daughter, Mitzi Ramsey and
husband Charles of Lawndale; sister, Ruth Yarbro and husband, John of Kings
Mountain; three grandsons; Tommy Gales and wife Tracy, Dustin Wilson and
fiancée, Megan Eaker, and Zach Wilson; Step-Granddaughter, Wendy McCurry and
husband Chris; three great grandchildren, Cameron, Adyson and Brooklyn
Gales; three step-great grandchildren, Summer and Jordan Barnes and Autumn
McCurry, nephew, Johnny Yarbro and wife Regina and family; and two nieces,
Julie Rikard and husband Quinton and family and Jill Hinson and husband Mike
and family.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Brian Smith for looking
after the barber shop through Jim's illness.

The family will recieve friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Bethlehem United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Randi Godfrey officiating.

The burial will follow in the Kadesh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
