James Love Crowder

James Love Crowder, 93 of Wilmington, NC (formerly of Shelby) passed away on Thursday, November 24th at Bradley Creek Health Care Center in Wilmington, NC after a brief illness.

He was the son of the late William Evans Crowder and Gertrude Austell Crowder.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Hopper Crowder and his sons, James Love Crowder Jr and Todd Crowder. He is survived by his daughter, Cara Crowder Harriman and his two grandchildren, Connor James Harriman and Holly Scott Harriman, all of Wilmington.

Jim was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He graduated from Shelby High School and Gardner Webb College. He worked many years at the family grocery store, "Crowder's Supermarket" before going to work for the State on NC. He moved to Wilmington in 2010 to be closer to his daughter, but his heart was always in his hometown.

James (Jim) had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life. His sense of humor made him popular with friends near and far. He continued his humor with the nursing staff up until his last few days.

The services will be held in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3rd at 10:30 AM. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Graveside services are for the immediate family only. Rev. David Lee will be officiating the services.
