Shelby - Mr. James Oliver Greene Jr., 87, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at his home.
Born in Cleveland County on February 14, 1925, he was a son of the late James Oliver Greene, Sr. and Mattie Bridges Greene. Mr. Greene was a member of Polkville Baptist Church where he served as former deacon and usher. He worked for Waldensian and Bost Bakeries and retired after twenty-two years as janitor for Polkville School. In the Army during World War II, Mr. Greene served in the Pacific Theater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Broadus Lee Greene.
Mr. Greene is survived by his wife, Annie Sue McKee Greene; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Wayne and Dorothy Greene of Auburn, Alabama; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Glenn Walker of Polkville; grandchildren, Nicholas Greene and wife, Christina, Jonas Greene, Josiah Greene, Jimmy Walker and wife, Bobbie; Jonya Smith and husband, Chris; and eight great
grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home. A guest register is available at www.stameyfuneralhome.com.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Friday at Polkville Baptist Church.

Burial: Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery
