James Ray Heavener, age 62, of Ellenboro, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at his residence.

James was born July 13, 1957 in Cleveland County to the late J.W. Heavener and Martha Louise Truelove Heavener. He was a graduate of Shelby High School, class of 1975 and worked for Hamrick Mills in Gaffney. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and golfing. He especially loved his family and the love of his life, Dorothy. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Williams and a brother, Dickie Joe Heavener.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy Heavener; sister, Debbie Lee of Shelby; stepson, Donald Henderson (Cindy) of Caroleen; brother-in-law, Harlan Williams of Lawndale and several nieces and nephews.

A private gathering to honor James will be held at Harrelson Funeral Home.

Memorial donations are requested to the charity of choice.
