James "Steve" Steven Hamrick, age 75 of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sandra Hamrick of the home, his children, Steven Craig Hamrick of Charlottesville, VA, and James Mathew Hamrick of Shelby, NC, a brother, Marvin Hamrick (Theresa) of Shelby, NC, a sister-in-law, Randi Bunting (Clark Bunting I) of Kernersville, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born April 22, 1947, in Cleveland County, NC, Steve was the son of the late James Marvin Hamrick and Emma Elizabeth Hamrick and was preceded in death by a sister, Elnora Eskridge (Steve Eskridge).

Steve was born and raised in Shelby where he graduated from Crest High School. After his graduation he was employed at Ora Mill and Baldor Electric. He also enjoyed working on his farm raising cows. Steve was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed his fellowship with his friends at Crest Chevron and he will always be remembered as a true friend.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tony Tench. A visitation will be held from 10:00am - 11:00am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
