 Jan L. Bennick, age 73, of Mooresboro, died Monday, May 9, 2016 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 19, 1943 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late William Lane and Ruth Goode Lane. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1960 and a faithful member of Haynes Memorial Baptist Church. Jan worked for the Rutherford County and Polk County Mental Health Department for thirty years before retirement. She enjoyed attending church activities and traveling around the country. She had the distinction of traveling to forty-nine states.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Bill Bennick; brother-in-law, Ned Lail; nephew, David Lail and great-nephew, Matthew Lail.
Survivors include one daughter, Angie Vinesett and husband, Scott of Spartanburg, SC; son Tommy Bennick of Caroleen; two sisters, Pat Lail of Mooresboro and Judy York and husband, Donald of Waterloo, SC; one brother, Billy Lane of Mooresboro; four grandchildren, Dusty Splawn and wife, April of Forest City, Heather Mode and husband, Stephen of Ellenboro, Chris Bennick and Tyler Bennick both of Forest City; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Mode, Ashlyn Mode, Reagan Splawn, and Jasmine Bennick. She is also survived by two nieces, three nephews, four great-nieces, five great-nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Haynes Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Dwayne Scruggs officiating. Interment will follow in Race Path Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
