Cherryville - Mrs. Janelle Leonhardt Cook, 61, of 1811 Requa Road, passed
away on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

Janelle was born on April 14, 1958 in Lincoln County, NC a daughter of the
late Burl Leonhardt and Mabel Canipe Leonhardt. She worked for
Richway/Morse Shoe Company traveling for three years. When she moved back
home she married Wayne Cook and was the bookkeeper for Cooks Masonry for 13
years and also for Farmers Fertilizer and was a caregiver to her parents.
Janelle was a former member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church where she
was a member of the United Methodist Women and served on the Missions and
bereavement committee. She is a member of North Brook Baptist Church where
she helped to start the clothes closet, the block party and the back to
school program and also served as a greeter, bereavement, missions. Janelle
also volunteered for Christian ministry in Lincoln County as a receptionist
and delivered meals on wheels.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Wayne Cook of the home; a son
Mike Cook and wife Heather of Cherryville; a daughter, Wendy Lattimore and
husband Jimmy of Fallston; a sister, Burlene Eaker; three brothers, Doyle
Leonhardt, Jack Leonhardt and Jamie Leonhardt all of Cherryville; five
grandchildren, Kelssie, Gavin, Payton, Easton and Natalie and also surviving
are special nieces and nephews, Alisa Eaker, Teresa Leonhardt, Stacy
Leonhardt, Kevin Leonhardt and Angela Leonhardt and special friends Teressa
Brady and Kathy Beal.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Monday, August 19, 2019 at
Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home and at other times the family will be at the
home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at North
Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wise officiating.

Burial will be at North Brook Baptist Church Cemetery.
