Janet Hord Tate, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on August 13, 2018 at Novant Health/Presbyterian in Charlotte, NC. She was born January 8, 1934 at Shelby Hospital to the late Clayton Cline Hord and J.L. Hord, Jr. She graduated from Shelby High School and made her debut into society. She was a graduate of the Shelby School of Nursing in 1954. She married Thomas A. Tate, September 11, 1954 and they moved to Boone, NC. She went to work at Watauga County Hospital. From there the family moved to Shelby where she went to work for Drs. Hamrick, Cloninger, and Bolin. Janet was a dedicated member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church. Her greatest legacy was her love for her family and her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jesse Lee Hord, III and son, Thomas A. "Tommy" Tate, Jr.

SURVIVORS: Husband of 63 years: Thomas A. Tate, Sr., Kings Mountain, NC;

Daughters: Jane T. Williams and husband Bob, Kings Mountain, NC

Roxanne Tate, Kings Mountain, NC

Son: Dexter C. Tate and wife Jerri, Kings Mountain, NC

Grandchildren: Courtney Humphries and husband, Daniel, Cline Tate, Samantha Tate, Cati Tate and 4 great grandchildren.

Special Niece, Cindy Cook and husband Brian and family, Macy Gordon and husband Alex, Britt, Brayden, and Clayton Cook.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 4:00 PM, August 15, 2018, Kings Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Whitesides officiating.

VISITATION: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
