Jason Oliver Emmert

Jason Oliver Emmert

(The last cowboy)

Loved by many and missed by all of us who knew him.

Jason Oliver Emmert (50) passed December 19, 2020 at Atrium Medical Center in Charlotte, NC after a

period of declining health but his passing was unexpected. Jason was born August 25, 1970 in Scottsdale,

AZ to Oliver Emmert, Jr and Betty Ann (Coble) Emmert.

Jason is survived by his three children: sons Samuel and Foster and daughter Lorraine Frances (Rainey).

Also surviving are his mother Ann of Gastonia, NC and his father Oliver of Shelby, NC and his sister

Michelle Rhodes (Geoff) and their three sons of Gastonia.

Jason spent his youth and early adult life in Shelby and was graduated from Shelby High School. He

obtained his bachelor's degree in business from Appalachian State University and later his MBA from

Gardner Webb University.

Jason worked in the family business in Shelby until 2000 when he then took a leap of faith and opened

Carolina BMW Motorcycles in Greensboro which he operated for 20 years. Jason was a motorcycle

enthusiast for his entire life, as he described himself on his business card. More than an entrepreneur,

he was a friend to every customer who ever darkened the doors of his shop. Jason was known widely in

the family of BMW dealers across the country and enjoyed a reputation as the personality behind the

dealership. Bigger than life, Jason frequently organized and led motorcycle trips touring North America.

The customers and friends who were fortunate enough to participate in any of his trips came home with

never to be forgotten memories and saw the beauty of this country through Jason's own unique vision.

He was a walking encyclopedia of the history of the American West, never hesitating to share it with his

fellow travelers. To borrow from Robert Earl Keen, the road went on forever and the party never ended.

His love and attraction for the west was such that he spent the last year and a half of his life camping

and touring the southwest.

He was a kind loving soul with a big heart who treated everyone with love and respect. During the

winter, Jason was known to buy blankets to hand out to Greensboro's homeless and was generous with

those around him and toward anyone who needed help.

Due to Covid19 restrictions, no immediate services are scheduled but a memorial service will be held

when possible in the chapel of Cecil M Burton Funeral Home in Shelby.

For anyone wishing to make a memorial donation to honor Jason's life, these organizations were dear to

his heart:
