Jean Newton Martin, 91, of Casar, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at
Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County on November 3, 1926, she was a daughter of the late
Ophus Grayson Newton and Effie Louella McNeilly Newton.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben
Guy Martin; brother, Gerald Newton; and two sisters, Ottie Whitworth and
Annie Ruth Sisk.

She is survived by two sons, Steve Martin and wife Jamie of Belwood and
Julius Harold Martin and wife Robbin of Charleston, SC; daughter, Cheryl
Beam and husband Kenneth of Casar; brother, Wayne Newton of Hickory; sister,
Carol Hunt of Casar; five grandchildren, Laura Shuford and husband Clint,
Janna Martin Jones and husband Matt, Jonathan Martin and wife Lori, Chris
Martin and wife Haley, and Robert Martin and wife Johnnie; seven great
grandchildren, Serra Shuford, Amber Martin, Lucas Martin, Ella Martin, Ava
Jones, Nolan Jones and Sarah Martin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston. At other times, the family will be
at the home of Cheryl and Kenneth Beam, 201 Pruitt Rd., Casar, NC 28020.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Casar United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Lovelace officiating.

The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
