Jean Renee Byars Allison, 76, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County on June 7, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Wesley Byars and Sarah Ruth Callahan Byars.
Renee dedicated her life to education, both as a passionate teacher and a lifelong learner. Throughout her career, she inspired countless students in public schools and at the community college level, fostering curiosity and confidence in every classroom she entered. Her own love of learning never waned; she pursued advanced studies and achieved a master's degree, always seeking new knowledge and ways to grow. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her wisdom, kindness, and devotion to teaching.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Ledbetter.
Renee is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Darrell M. Allison; her daughters, Bethany Condrey and Bonnie Allison; and her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Gill (Taylor), Mac Condrey, and Cash Allison. She is also survived by her bonus granddaughter, Grace France (Angie), and three beloved great-grandsons, Sebastian, Canaan, and Ezra.
To celebrate the life of Renee, a memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
