Jeanne Blanton Eskridge

Jeanne Blanton Eskridge passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on October 14, 2022 with her family by her side.

Born in Shelby, NC on December 14, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Edwin Yates Blanton and Ayleen Goode Blanton. Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert (Bobby) Eskridge and one brother, James (Jimmy) Blanton.

Jeanne is survived by her 2 sons and one daughter, Lee Eskridge, wife, Ella of Atlanta, GA, Kim Eskridge, wife, Beverly of Marietta,GA, and Lydia Wilson, husband, Larry of Raleigh, NC. In addition, Jeanne is survived by her 5 grandchildren, Lindsey Pak, husband, Paul of Woodstock, GA, Robby Eskridge, Chattanooga, TN, Meredith Bynum, husband, Zack of Raleigh, NC, Rush Eskridge, Marietta, GA, and Ross Wilson, wife, Hadley of Raleigh, NC. Jeanne is also survived by her 5 great grandchildren, Hannah Pak, Caleb Pak, Webb Bynum, Yates Bynum, Spencer Wilson and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was a graduate of Shelby High School and Gardner Webb. She began working for Hugh's Jewelry in Shelby the day after she graduated from Gardner Webb and continued working there for over 35 years. She then worked for the Shelby City Schools until her retirement.

Jeanne was a faithful, life long member of First Baptist Church of Shelby and served her church in many ways. Her Sunday School Class, Circle, and Choir membership were all very dear to her.

Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She lived a life of strong faith and service to others. Jeanne maintained and developed friendships of all ages and always welcomed them into her home. She leaves this world a more loving place because God placed her in our lives and we shall always cherish her memory.

A funeral service to honor the life of Jeanne will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church. Dr. Robert Canoy will offer words of encouragement for those in attendance. Receiving of friends will follow the funeral service in the chapel. The family will hold a private interment service at Cleveland Memorial Park.

A special thank you to Margaret Litton, Doris & Myles Whitaker, Lee Ann & Dennis Jaynes, Mitzi Price, Bill & Judy Cullum, Paulette Impinna and many other friends, neighbors and church members too countless to name who offered their time, love, and care to Jeanne during her last years in Shelby. Each of you made such a difference in her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Shelby, Hospice of Cleveland County or Transitions Life Care of Raleigh.
