Jerry Wade Carpenter, age 85, passed away Wednesday August 4, 2021 at Hospice Wendover in Shelby.

Born in Gaston County on March 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Perry and Jessie White Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Dean and Dale Carpenter and a sister Rachel Carpenter Beam. Wade retired from Carolina Freight after 37 years. He always enjoyed the game of softball and later found his passion for golfing.

Wade is survived by his wife of 65 years Pansy Poston Carpenter. One brother James Carpenter, One son Jerry Carpenter, Jr., a daughter Kathy Hill, grandchildren Christy Carpenter, Alan Heavner, and Stacy Lee (Brandon). Great Grandchildren, Sheri Staib (Steven), BJ Davis (Savannah), CJ and Brooklin Heavner, Zoey Lee, and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held 3:00pm Sunday August 8, 2021 at Elizabeth Baptist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2-3pm.
