Jessie Mae Ross Littlejohn

Mrs. Jessie Mae Ross Littlejohn born September 10, 1939 received her well earned Heavenly reward December 10, 2021 at Shelby Manor in Cleveland County, NC.

Jessie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with her entire heart. She served the Lord as she attended West Side Praise and Worship Center (formerly Mt. Sinai Church) for more than 50 years. She especially loved to mentor and guide the lives of young people in their relationships with Jesus. Jessie enjoyed crocheting, singing, reading her Bible daily, and serving the Lord in every way. Jessie always wanted her family to dedicate their lives to the Lord.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jessie sacrificed her life and desires for the desires of her family and friends. The compassion she poured onto others can never be replaced. Every tear she shed in life, whether it was from pain or praise, God has returned them as diamonds for her crown. The strength of her voice, although diminished in the end, was still an encouraging sound in this dark world.

Working as a caregiver, Jessie worked for 28 years as a CNA at White Oak Manor and thereafter Cleveland Pines Nursing Center for another 5 years until her health began to decline.

Preceded in death are the following family members: her parents, Marvin "Buck" and Ella Bell Hopper Ross; brothers, L.D., Wade, Raymond, June, Bob, Andrew and Luther Ross; sisters, Minnie Ross Proctor, Rose Ross Leak and Inez Ross Williams; two children, Beverly Laborn Smith and Marvin Laborn and two grandchildren, Lauran Christopher Smith and Larry Laborn, Jr.

Those who remain to carry on her memory: Larry Laborn (Virginia), Benjamin Laborn and daughter, Debra Laborn Galmer all of Shelby, NC and Michael Laborn (Tawana) of Washington, DC; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Marie Ross of Gastonia, NC and Maxine Ross of Rhode Island along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Ms. Littlejohn will be private. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the chapel and other times at 209 West Shannonhouse Street Shelby. Masks are required if attending the reception of friends on Monday. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloemortuary.com. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
