Jimmy Rogers Turner passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at Grace Hospital in Morganton, N. C. after a brief illness.

He was born in Catawba County July 8,1945, and was the son of the late Madison Dalton and Roberta Smith Turner.

Jimmy graduated from Ridgeview High School in 1963. He was a member of the Ridgeview Panthers football team from 9th grade to 12th grade. When he was in the 11th grade, they won the 1962 State Championship. He was also a member of the Glee Club.

Jimmy worked for the Urban League of New York City, and later worked at Century Furniture in Hickory, N. C.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Derek Turner of Columbus, Ohio and his sister, Rose A. Propst of Hickory, N. C.

He is survived by his daughter, Dana Turner of Columbus, Ohio, two sons, Todd Turner and Ambay Turner both of Binghamton, NY, his sisters, Betty Anthony of Hickory, N.C. Beatrice Turner of Virginia Beach, Virginia and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 2, at 2 p.m. at Hartzell United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Cassandra Rawls officiating. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloemortuary.com. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
