Joan was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was a southern lady that loved pretty things. She also loved and enjoyed red birds, butterfly's, orchids and listening to beach music. She enjoyed her townhome in Greensboro, mostly sitting outside during the summer months with neighbors and visiting with all who walked by each day. Joan was a wonderful cook, but really enjoyed eating out with family and friends often. In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lorenzo Peeler. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Peeler McWhirter and husband Eddie of Columbia, SC; her son, Charles "Chuck" Franklin Peeler and wife Angela of Browns Summit, NC; grandchildren, Will Cameron McWhirter and wife Sarah of Fayetteville, GA, Molly Joan McWhirter Holder and husband Ryan of Greer, SC, Kelsey Kristen Peeler Maxwell and husband Jacob of Fletcher, NC, Charles Dillon Peeler of Browns Summit, NC; and two great grandchildren, Tinsley Lane and Hampton Christopher Holder. She was a lady of faith, and will be remembered as a kind, gentle and caring woman who was always looking out for others with compassion, often before herself. A graveside service will be held 11am, Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in Kadesh United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Joan's nephew, Tommy Propst officiating. It is recommended those attending wear masks and practice social distancing. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital and/or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
