JoAnn Kerr Richards

JoAnn Kerr Richards, 90, of Crystal Springs Lane, Shelby, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025,at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Born in Houston, Texas on August 1, 1935, she was the daughter of Vernon Kerr and Lorene Kerr Trahan. Mrs. Richards retired from Shelby Manor and also worked at Union Carbide and in real estate. She was a longtime member of Shelby Presbyterian Church where she served in many roles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Dr. F.E. "Ace" Richards, Denver Parker and Allen Callahan. She was also preceded in death by her son Scott Richards, grandson Colin Richards, and a sister Betty Deutsch.

Survivors include her sons and their spouses: Ed and Mary Richards of Kings Mountain, NC and Philip and Diana Richards of Batesville, AR and daughter-in-law Meg Richards of Pueblo, CO. Grandchildren: Courtney Richards, Kate and Tyler Tripp, Duncan and Mary Richards of Denver, CO; Ian and Lori Richards of Colorado Springs, CO; Nate Richards of Provo, Utah, Kyle and Beth Richards of Ridge Spring, SC, Claire and Justin Roper of Knoxville, TN, Eileen and Steele Scroggin of Memphis, TN; Erin Richards and Abby Richards of Batesville, AR; and Anna Richards and Bryan Collum of Bentonville, AR. Great grandchildren: Adaline Richards, Theodore, John Paul and Winnie Tripp, Henry and Faye Richards, James Roper, and Lincoln and Beckett Scroggin. Also, a brother-in- law, Bob Deutsch, of Houston, TX and 2 nieces, Sharon Davis and Kim Kliebert.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Shelby Presbyterian Church with Pastor Drew Mangione officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Sunset Cemetery.
