Joe Quinn, age 68, of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Joe was born Monday, October 29, 1956 in Rutherford County to the late Joseph Earl Quinn, Sr. and Frances Blanton Quinn. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1974 and held a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Appalachian State University. Joe served honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked in law enforcement and corrections most of his life, having served on the Forest City Police Department, as a jailer at the Rutherford County Detention Center, a Rutherford County Magistrate and as a correctional officer at the Rutherford Correctional Center. He was a dedicated member of Florence Baptist Church. Joe was a man of strong Christian beliefs and a devoted husband. He also enjoyed working on word puzzles and was an avid reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Long.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Chris Quinn; daughter, Abby Quinn; brother-in-law, Dan Laskowski all of Rutherfordton; and a sister-in-law, Jeanie Long of Daytona, Florida.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 6th at Florence Baptist Church with Reverend Daniel Selman officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
