Joey Patterson Wilson

Joey Patterson Wilson, 62, of 397 Seattle St. Apt. 4 A Shelby, NC passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC.

He was born on September 19, 1958 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Robert Lewis Wilson and the late Betty Patterson Wilson.

Joey joined Washington Missionary Baptist Church as a teenage boy. He graduated from Burns High School in 1977. Joey was formerly employed with Doran Textiles for over 30 years until his health declined.

Joey was known for his passion for all sports and was especially known for being a diehard Washington Redskins fan. He will be remembered for his strong but giving, no nonsense personality.

In addition to his parents, Joey was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marshall and Cleo Wilson and his maternal grandparents, Claude and Maggie Cunningham Patterson.

He is survived by his longtime companion of 43 years, Veronica Schenck. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Cherie Schenk of Shelby, NC and Amber Thompson (Nicholaus) of Macon, GA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Channing Thompson, Raylyn Moses, Christian Thompson, Jackie Ross, Jr. Cahmari Thompson and Justyn Ross; brothers, Robert H. Wilson and Anthony Wilson; one sister, Freda Wilson; three nephews, Robert D. Wilson, Bryan Logan and Maurice Whitworth; one niece, Terrie Banks and a host of cousins and friends.

The service for Mr. Wilson will be private. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel.
