John C. Dunivan, Sr., 80, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 at his residence.

John was born on August 11, 1943 in Stockton, California a son of the late Lloyd Dunivan and Jacquelin Stevens. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Rhode Island aboard the USS Skywatcher. John worked in industrial sales most of his career before retiring from Ron Wallace & Associates in Clover, SC. He was member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville where he was a deacon and former Sunday school director and also served in various other capacities.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, John C. Dunivan, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Pauline Alarie Dunivan of the home; a son, Kevin Dunivan of Rockland, MA; a daughter, Lori Lankford of Shelby; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM Friday, November 17, 2023 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home and at other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville with the Revs. Keith Huss and Wayne Key officiating.

Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard.
