John David Canipe, 72, of Old NC 18 in Lawndale, passed away Wednesday, June
12, 2019 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese.

Born December 27, 1946 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Sally
Leona Smith. He was retired from Century Furniture.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather,
Marvin "Smokey" Smith, Sr.; two sons, Bobby Eugene Canipe and David Lee
"Pete" Canipe and brother, Donald "Ringo" Canipe.

Survivors include his wife thirty seven years, Sandra Willis Canipe; two
brothers, Bobby Walker of Lawndale and Marvin C. Smith, Jr. of Casar;
sister, Mary Kate Walker Smith of Connelly Springs; granddaughter, Emily Ann
Almony; great granddaughter, Dixie Lynn; great grandson, Michael; niece,
Tracy Childers; nephews, Roger, Jerry and Eddie.

The visitation will be 5:00PM until 7:00PM Friday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral
Home.

The funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Jackie Price officiating.

Burial will follow at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
