John Leatherman, Jr., 89, of Angela Court, Lincolnton, passed away Thursday,
March 9, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System - Lincoln.

He was born on February 20, 1928 in Lincoln County, to the late John F.
Leatherman and Ethel Mae Houser Leatherman. He was retired from Gardner
Benoit Company as the inside manager and was a member of First Baptist
Church, Lincolnton.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Pink
Leatherman and Zack Leatherman and three sisters, Ethel Mae Crotts, Susie
Hoyle and Josephine Warlick.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Parker Leatherman; four
children, Stephen Parker (Debbie) Leatherman of Miami, FL, John F. (Joan)
Leatherman, III of Salisbury, Barbara L. (Steve) Skinner of Blacksburg, VA,
and Michael Frank (Cindy) Leatherman of Charlotte; eight grandchildren,
Stephen B. Leatherman, Sandra Leatherman, Matthew (Keisha) Leatherman, Anna
(Kevin) DeSanty, Cory Skinner, Garrett Skinner, Daniel (Katherine)
Leatherman and Jeremy Leatherman; and two great grandchildren, Maya & Joanna
Leatherman.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday at First
Baptist Church, Lincolnton.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at First Baptist Church,
Lincolnton, with the Revs. Stanley Spence and Dixon Free officiating.

The burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
