John Lee Wylie

John Lee Wylie, 82, of 758 Bridges Rd, passed away on Friday, December 30th, 2022, at his home.

Born in Earl, NC, he was the husband of 62 years to Faye Neal Wylie and the son of the late Troy and Lela Bowen Wylie.

John formerly worked in textiles and attended Rock Springs Baptist Church. He was a caring, passionate person who was known for his sense of humor and pranks (even in his final days). John cared deeply for his family. They traveled around the world together and lived in places most can only dream of visiting. With John, you didn't have to be "blood related" to be family. He was an only child, but he considered Mike Axom, Jim Gilbert, Sal Mayer, and Larry Ellis as brothers. He was very passionate about nature. Even when they lived abroad, they always knew that home was the farm in Blacksburg. John loved taking care of his land and animals.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wylie survived by a son, Steven Lee Wylie (Amy); three daughters, Rhonda Jean Wylie Cole (Mark), Donna Kaye Wylie Willis (Scott), and Kathy Ann Wylie Phillips (Jon); eleven grandchildren: James Nathanael Sapoch, Rebecca Sapoch McDowell, Caleb Johnathan Sapoch, Bradley Scott Moore, Tyler Brandon Moore, Jennifer Brooke Moore Glover, Luke Anthony Wylie, Grace Marie Wylie, Benjamin Aaron Phillips, Brandon Austin Phillips, and Matthew Ryan Phillips; eleven great-grandchildren; and cousins that he had been close to since childhood, Roger Bowen and Wayne Ross.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph MaGaha and Rev. Dale Welch officiating. His grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.

The family will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church, 1184 Rock Springs Rd, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
