John "Paw Paw" Hutchins

John "Paw Paw" Hutchins, age 92, of Caroleen, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Fairhaven Home of Forest City.

John was born May 24, 1927 in Rutherford County to the late Tildon Hayes Hutchins and Mary Gettys Hutchins. He was a pillar in the Caroleen community where he owned and operated Hutchins Restaurant and Snack Bar for many decades. In the early years, he ran a butcher shop and grocery store at the same location. John also had a passion for farming and enjoyed driving and collecting antique tractors. He was a past member of Caroleen Baptist Church and a current member of Grace Baptist Church. John enjoyed travelling and going on beach trips with his family. He had a heart for everyone he met and never sent anyone away without giving them something. John was a dedicated Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He leaves a family and a host of friends who adored and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Jessie Hamrick Hutchins; one son, Roger Morrison Hutchins; five brothers and four sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Sondra Childres (Steve), Barbara Connell (Steve) and Susie Davis (Gary) all of Caroleen; daughter-in-law, Judi Hutchins of Caroleen; sister, Betty Lee Baynard of Bostic and a brother, Clarence Hutchins (Sandy) of Caroleen. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special caregivers, Jackie Hill and Jessica Brown.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Norma Roberts and Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

The body will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
