John Robert Wilson, Sr. passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Atrium Healthcare Cleveland, Shelby, North Carolina. He was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Nancy Wall Wilson and the late John Mason Wilson.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his spouse, Carnita Williams Wilson. daughter, Wendy Elizabeth Wilson (David); son, John Robert Wilson, Jr. (Brittney); five grandchildren, Alyssa Wilson, Ayden Wilson, Sara Wilson, Willow Wilson and John Robert Wilson III; five bonus grandchildren, Cameron, Isabella, Nevaeh, Payton and Cheyenne; one great-granddaughter, Willow Madrid; one sister, Debra Oliver.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Mason Wilson; niece, Dana Williams, two of his favorite brother-in-laws, Robert Williams and Michael Williams; lifelong best friend, John Dye.

He loved to fish with his son and father. Deer hunting was the season for him. John enjoyed his chickens, cats and the farm life. Nature was in his blood. He enjoyed cutting up, laughing and breathing the joys of life. There was never a dull moment around John Wilson. John Wilson, Sr. will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
