John Wesley Martin, Jr., 79, of 3175 Lynn Mountain Road, Vale, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at his residence.
Born December 28, 1933 in Druid County, Florida he was a son of the late John Wesley Martin, Sr. and Ethel Short Martin. He was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers as a Dock Worker and was a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Martin served the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Carl Martin and two sisters, Zeda Pearl Abernathy and Thelma Etta Lynn.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Huss Martin; son, Jonathan Martin and wife, Jennifer; two daughters, Catherine Hunt and husband, Nathan of Vale and Marie Haselden and husband, Tom of Charlotte; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
