ELLENBORO - Johnny Leon Holtsclaw, 77, of Dobbinsville Extension, Ellenboro, died on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County. A native of Rutherford County, he was born on June 12, 1935, a son of the late Oakley Geter Holtsclaw and Ella Mae Allread Holtsclaw. He retired from PPG Industries after 30 years of service. He was also a United States Army Veteran and member of Race Path Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Toney Holtsclaw. He is survived by his sons, Johnny Holtsclaw and wife Trudy of Ellenboro, Robby Holtsclaw and wife Susan of Bostic, Dale Holtsclaw and wife La Breeska of Forest City, and Danny Holtsclaw and wife Janet of Ellenboro; his sisters, Della Elizabeth Moore of Caroleen, Geretha Mae Walker of Caroleen, Ethel Loretha Garver of Lincolnton, and Carolyn Yvonne Greene of Hickory; his grandchildren, Felicia Hamrick and husband Jeremy, Jessica Holtsclaw, Leslie Wall and husband Charloe, Eobby Holtsclaw, Jr. and wife Brandi, Justin Holtsclaw and Landon Holtsclaw; his great grandchildren, Bryson Hamrick, Emma Holtsclaw, and Madeline Wall.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Holtsclaw will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 03. 2013 at Race Path Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, April 02, 2013 at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service and at other times at the home of Dale and LeBreeska Holtsclaw, 472 Sunset Memorial Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
