Jon Mac Stinnett

Jon Mac Stinnett, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 11, 2012 peacefully at home.  A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Clyde Ray and Edna Queen Stinnett.  He was also preceded in death by his sister Kate Limbo and her husband Elmer Limbo.

Jon served his country with the United States Army in Europe.  He started his career in law enforcement in Ashe County as a Highway Patrolman with North Carolina State Highway Patrol and then transferred to the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Division where he retired after 25 years of law enforcement experience.  He served his country and his state honorably.  Jon was an active member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.  He was a member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge #744.  Jon was an avid fisherman.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

           

Jon is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte Severt Stinnett; daughter, Jennifer Stinnett Thomas and husband David of Shelby; Matthew Douglas Stinnett and wife Meredith of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Joshua R. Crotts and wife Myia of Toluca, NC, Jason B. Crotts and wife Mary of Toluca, NC, Jacob B. Stinnett of Wilmington, NC and Natalie G. Stinnett of Wilmington, NC; great grandsons, Caleb J. Crotts and Zeke G. Crotts; brother, Ed R. Stinnett and wife Ocie of Horseshoe, NC; sister, Judy Fuqua of Holly Springs, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Elizabeth Baptist Church.  Dr. Rit Varriale will be officiating and Mike McGee will be doing the music.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00am at the church prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.  At other times the family will be at the home.
