Joseph Albert Coley

Joseph Albert Coley, 74, of Shelby, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, while in hospice care.

He was born on September 23, 1950, in Newton-Conover, North Carolina. Joseph was a devoted member of Double Shoals Baptist Church and a dedicated community servant. He volunteered with the Fallston Fire Department, Hospice, and the NC Baptist Men's Association, giving his time and heart to those in need.

Joseph was a beloved teacher at Cherryville Jr/Sr High School and John Chavis Middle School and was a proud graduate of Appalachian State University. His impact as an educator and mentor will be remembered by countless students and colleagues.

He is survived by his loving wife, Regina A. Coley; two daughters, Kara Wooten and partner Stefan Gatlin, Kammie Kale and her husband Jason Kale. He is also survived by his brother Scott Coley and wife Teresa, his brother dwaine Coley and wife Nancy, and his cherished grandchildren: Riley and Lukas Kale, Haydn Wooten, and Haylee Miller and husband Layton Miller.

Joseph will be remembered for his deep faith, strong love for his family, and a life devoted to helping others. His legacy of compassion, service, and love will continue to live on through everyone who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Double Shoals Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, 2:00 PM at Double Shoals Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, with Dr. Brian Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow the service in the Double Shoals Baptist Church Prayer Garden.
