Joseph Mike “J.R.” Roach, age 47, of Island Ford Road, Forest City, NC, died Thursday, January 10, 2013 due to an auto accident.
J.R. was born December 30, 1965 in Rutherford County, NC to Tommy Mac Roach and Shirley Ann Dills Roach. J.R. was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1983 and worked as a truck driver. He also spent several years as a Reserve Deputy for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department and was member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a faithful member of Danieltown Baptist Church. J.R. was an outgoing person who enjoyed visiting with people and also loved to visit at the Magnolia House. He was also a horse enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Bob Dills.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Martha Paulet Roach; one daughter, Tiffany Roach; one son Tyler Roach both of Rutherfordton; two brothers, Randy Roach and wife, Janet and Johnny Roach and wife, Wanda all of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Sandra Parris and husband, Norman and Brenda McFarland and husband, Danny also of Rutherfordton; one aunt, Dorothy Dills of Harris. He is also survived by four grandchildren which includes, Autumn Ramsey; three step-children, Shanna Ramsey, Deidre Ramsey, Concepcion Mendoza; one step-grandchild, Jamaica Ramsey and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Danieltown Baptist Church with Reverend Creighton Lovelace officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. A private burial will take place on a later date.
