Joy Kathy Brooks, 72, born December 31, 1948, met her Savior, Saturday, July 31, 2021.

A passionate Wife, Mother, Grand Mother, Daughter, friend & counselor, she leaves a legacy of compassion and giving. Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Aaron Max Brooks of 39 years, son Joshua Turner Brooks of Shelby NC, three daughters and their husbands, Joyce & Eric Davidson of Shelby, NC, Leslie & Charles Mayes of Jefferson City, TN, Nickie & Rodney Paulson of Kings Mountain, NC, her brother Tommy & wife Linda Higgs, of Lincolnton as well as her beloved dogs, Sonny & JoJo. Kathy loved on 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with enthusiasm.

Kathy is preceded in death by her mother Dorotha Powell Turner and daughters LaDonna Gail Proctor Black and Tonya Proctor Thurman. Kathy was so lovingly known by many for her kindness, quick witted humor, and wisdom. Kathy was a caretaker to many, and leaves behind a multitude of special friends, far too many to list, but who will always remain part of our family. This year, her signature Christmas decorations will shine brighter knowing there is another angel in Heaven celebrating the season.

The service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the home of Max & Kathy Brooks, 5416 Canterbury Road, Shelby, NC 28150, which was her favorite place in the world. A great longtime family friend, Caroline Dedmon, will officiate the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm, at the home.
