Joyce Ann Matthews, 73, was gently received by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, August 14th, 2023.

At a young age, Joyce was deprived of most of the function of her limbs by Guillain-barré syndrome, becoming one of the rare cases where limb function does not fully return. She would go on to endure multiple surgeries and operations to address complications related to this disease. Despite this, Joyce went on to marry Larry Matthews and become a mother and grandmother.

Joyce was an avid reader, possessing nearly 400 novels (of which crime and thriller were her favorite). She also enjoyed Sudoku, crosswords and conversing with her grandson about various topics both silly and serious. She also enjoyed gardening and watching her flowers grow. She also enjoyed listening to The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Adele.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Clayton and Hazel White; sisters, Pat and Mildred and brother Forrest as well as her nephew, Clayton Richard.

She is survived by her ex-husband: Larry Matthews; son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Karen Matthews; grandson: Justin and his wife, Haley Matthews. As well as her several nieces and nephews (including Harley White and wife Sarah), and her siblings: Betty Jo Richard, Leonard White, Warren White, Larry White, Doug White, and Judy White, and all of their respective families.
