Judith Mintz Fernald

Judith Mintz Fernald, known to everyone as Judy, 83 years old, passed away peacefully Friday, March 21, 2025 at Hospice House Wendover. Judy will definitely be missed by family and friends as she touched many lives, always willing to help. She was born in Cleveland County November 20, 1941 to the late Fred Dee Mintz, Sr. and Lillian Whisnant Mintz.



Upon graduating from Polkville High School, Judy graduated from Gardner Webb College and Lenoir - Rhyne University. She taught at Western Carolina School for the Deaf and Guilford County School System. Upon leaving her teaching career, she went to work at Vick Chemical Company and Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp. in sales until her retirement.



Judy found great joy in traveling with family and friends, discovering new places, meeting new people, and making memories that would last a lifetime. She was so proud to always get back to the beach and Florida. She lived many places in her lifetime with her favorite being at The Villages in Florida before calling Cleveland County home. Judy had a natural talent with decorating design and shared her talents with many friends and family. She loved being a part of Bethlehem Community Church sharing her many talents and ideas and Pastor Jason Elmore for his pastoral duties.



In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by an infant brother, grandson William Cable, brother-in-law Coy Crawford, niece Phyllis Boggs Elmore, nephew Darryl Crawford.



Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Natalie Fernald of Smyrna, Georgia and Amy Cable and husband Bill of Hickory; grandchildren John and Trey Anagnostis, Hope and Holly Cable; two sisters Ann Boggs and husband Max of Fallston, Pat Crawford of Kings Mountain; a brother Dee Mintz and wife Diane of Polkville; nephews Andy Boggs and wife Mary of Fallston, Brad Crawford and wife Wendy of Shelby, Trey Mintz and wife Kelly of Orlando, Florida, Todd Mintz of Polkville; Beth Crawford of Kings Mountain, Kathy Hoyle of Fallston, Erica Hoyle Blanchard of Belwood, Rebecca Hoyle of Cherryville and Dustin Hoyle and Andy Elmore of Fallston; along with many extended family members.



The family would like to thank everyone for the cards, visits, phone calls and especially the many prayers during her illness. Judy has requested no services, there will only be a private memorial.
