Judith S. Allen, age 68, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at St. Anthony Hospice Center in Michigan City.
Judy was born December 31, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Sami Sven Svendsen and the late Geneva Leona Fink Svendsen. She worked for Jaymar Ruby Industries as a document coordinator and retired after 25 years of service. Everyone knew Judy to be an honest and loving person and a true friend to anyone who was close to her. She and her husband, Lewis, would pray and read the Bible together everynight before bedtime and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Valparaiso. She loved working on her computer. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 40 years, Lewis Allen; two children, Laura G. Funchess and husband, Lanny of Cliffside, NC and John Allen and wife, Cynthia of Valparaiso, IN; three sisters, Karen Al-Saadi of Ann Arbor, MI, Nada Rapp and husband, Dan of The Villages, FL and Janet McAfee and husband, John of Osprey, FL; one brother, Eric Svendsen and wife, Mary of Chesterton, IN. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kent Funchess, Autumn Dallas and husband, Kenny, Steven Allen, Peter Allen, Chad Funchess and Summer Funchess; two great-grandchildren, Riley Dallas and Lance Dallas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 19 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend John Allen and Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be a private ceremony in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens on Tuesday.
