Judy Jordan Davenport, age 82, of Shelby NC, died on October 1, 2026 at Wendover Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents Linney and Marie Jordan.

She is survived by her husband Glenn, son Chris and wife Joni, and son Scott and wife Rebecca. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chrissy Ledford, Charlie Scales, Gabe Davenport, and Aiden Davenport and her great-grandchild Morgan Corujo.

Judy was born in Statesville, NC where she attended Harmony High School. She graduated from Mars Hill College with a bachelor's degree and from the University of Louisville with her master's degree. She taught math and science for forty years, mostly at Crest Middle School.

Judy enjoyed genealogy and doing family history. She loved to travel, do crafts, read, sing in the church choir and tutor her grandchildren.

She was actively in support of law enforcement chaplaincy and served as the hospitality chairman for over 300 chaplains at their annual training.

A celebration of life service will be on October 8th at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Aaron Hinton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
