Julia Camp Brooks
Mrs. Julia Camp Brooks, 86, of 1715 Carson Road, Shelby, NC was called home by her heavenly Father on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, NC.  She was born January 3, 1927 in Cherokee County, SC to the late Rev. Lucious and Lena Bowden Camp.

Mrs. Brooks accepted Christ at an early age at Shoal Creek Baptist Church and later joined Mountain View Baptist Church where she served in a number of capacities including church secretary, Sunday school teacher, Missionary President and church clerk.  She eventually became a founding member of Golden Ridge Baptist Church where she remained a member for over 40 years.  At Golden Ridge, she was a past president of the missionary department, choir member, Sunday school teacher, church clerk and mother of the church.  Mrs. Brooks was passionate about her church and spent much of her life there.  She was a praying woman who often quoted the scripture, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Mrs. Brooks was retired from Doran Mills.  Some of her additional pastimes included gardening and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she retired to help rear. She loved her family and always enjoyed getting together with them.  Her nurturing spirit extended to her siblings as well for not only was she a sister to them but, a mother-figure as well.
