Julian Samuel Rogers

Julian Samuel Rogers, age 76, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Hospice Wendover after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland County on July 31, 1940, he was the son of the late Robert Hamer and Clara Ellenberg Rogers. Starting at a young age, Sam attended various military academies, graduated from Shelby High, served in the U. S. Army, and received certification in data processing from Gardner-Webb University. He enjoyed owning and operating his commercial cleaning business, Rogers Enterprises. In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Rogers (Marjorie), Tommy Rogers (Marian), and Will Rogers; sister, Ruth Edgar; and nieces, Elizabeth and Barbara Edgar.

Sam is survived by his son, Joseph Samuel "Sammy" Rogers and wife Angie of Boiling Springs; two grandchildren, Hayden and Hallie Rogers; Sister-in-law, Lillian Rogers of Shelby; Former wife, Linda B. Rogers of Shelby; Special friends, Sarah Eaker of Shelby, Sammy and Sherrie Lee all of Stafford VA.

Graveside service with Full Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Sunset Cemetery with Dr. Rick Bowling and Rev. Tim Trexlar officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory
