Julius "Porky" Gaff Howie

Julius "Porky" Gaff Howie, 87, of Hollis Road, Shelby passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at his residence.

Julius was born on June 21, 1937 in Cleveland County, to the late Harry Howie and Sally Lou Lattimore Carpenter. He was retired from PPG and was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Howie and Catherine Whisnant.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Hammond Howie; daughter, Robin Howie Dalton (Ken) of Shelby; step-son, Everette Dale Wright, Jr.(Norma) of Fallston; step-daughter, Anita Bell (Cliff) of Five Points; four grandchildren, Eric Dalton (Rachel), Justin Dalton (Stacey), Melissa Grasso (Rich) and Casey Bissell (Devon); eleven great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Big Springs Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM at Big Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Scott and Dr. Jim Richardson officiating.

Burial will follow service in Lattimore Family Cemetery.
