Junior Humphries, age 80, of Cliffside, NC, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his residence.
Junior was born December 19, 1938 in Jackson County, NC to the late Archie Humphries, Sr. and Mary Helen Beason Humphries. He worked as for PPG for thirty-four years before retirement. Junior was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and taking family trips to the beach. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Heather Lowery and Tori Lowery; four brothers, Dan "Pee Wee" Humphries, Buddy Ray Humphries, Steve Humphries, Jimmy Humphries and two sisters, Joan Harris and Sara Lou Wright.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-two years, Carolyn Mills Humphries; daughter, Lisa Humphries Tolleson of Cliffside; son, Billy Ray Humphries and wife, Cyndi also of Cliffside; brother, Larry Humphries and wife, Tecie of Shelby. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Snapper Humphries, Amber Jones, Ronnie "Bubba" Lowery and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Matt Mills, Reverend Bob Philbeck and Reverend Owen Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery-Cleveland County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
