Kate Palmer Floyd

Kate Palmer Floyd, 90, a resident of White Oak Manor of Shelby, peacefully drifted into the presence of her Savior Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Wendover Hospice. A native of Cleveland county, she was the daughter of the late John and Nettie Pendleton Palmer. She was a member of LaFayette Street United Methodist Church where she served as a greeter for over 30 years. The family would like to extend special appreciation to the staff and friends at White Oak Manor for their care and friendship given to her during her stay there.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Morris Jackson Floyd; one grandson, Elijah Floyd; three brothers, James, John, Jr., and Ben Palmer; two sisters, Lillian "Dib" Hope, and Frances Stewart.

SURVIVED: She is survived by one son, Gary Floyd and wife Sue; one daughter, Jeanette Gibson and husband Leonard all of Shelby; two brothers, Joe Palmer and wife Grace, and Amie "Chuck" Palmer and wife Gladys all of Shelby; five grandchildren, Julie Crotts and husband Scott, Jason Floyd and wife Lynne, James Gibson and wife Sherry, David Gibson and wife Windy, and Matt Gibson and wife Lori; eight great grandchildren, Ethan Floyd, Eva Floyd, Mason Crotts, Jada Hayes, Allen Crotts, Jeremy Gibson, Kristin Gibson DeJesus, and Chesney Gibson.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held Monday, 2:30 pm at LaFayette Street United Methodist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm to 2:30pm before the service at the church.

BURIAL: Cleveland Memorial Park
