Katherine Ledbetter Mulkey, age 82, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born September 19, 1943 in Spartanburg County, SC, she was a daughter to the late George Franklin Ledbetter and Clara Mae Ledbetter. She worked in textiles most of her life and was a member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church. Katherine loved flower gardening and taking care of birds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Maynard Whiteside and two brothers, Glenn and Tommy Ledbetter.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Richard Whiteside and wife, Robin of Lake Lure; sister, Nancy Taylor of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Brett LeBrun and wife, Lisa of Gainesville, Georgia, Bart LeBrun of Lake Lure and Katie Sisk and husband, Chad of Union Mills. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Reverend Leon Brown and Reverend Chad Sisk officiating. Interment will be private in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
