Katherine Simmons Walker, age 72, of Middle Street, Ellenboro, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from this life and has gone to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Kathy, as she was known by all, was born August 13, 1946 in Rutherford County. Kathy was a graduate of Gaffney High School, class of 1964 and worked in the lunchroom at Dunbar Elementary for many years. She was a volunteer for ten years at Chase Corner Ministries and a choir member for thirty-five years at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. Kathy was a dedicated church member and also taught Sunday School for twenty-five years.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, James Earl Simmons and Mary Lissie Randolph Simmons.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of forty-six years, Coye Lee Walker as well as her four brothers, James "Jim " Earl Simmons, Jr. (Judy) of Anderson, SC, Robert Bert Simmons (Barbara) of Gaffney, SC, Ervin Wayne Simmons (Tracey) of Blacksburg, SC and Mickey Ray Simmons (Sharon) of Shelby; five sisters, Mary Lounett West (Wayne) of Charlotte, Nancy Carolyn Teague of Gaffney, Martha Ann Wisher of Blacksburg, Sylvia Dean Benton (Junior) of Gaffney and Marilyn Marie Bartee of Shelby.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Poe Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
