Miss Kathy Jean McSwain, 54, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Peak Resources in Shelby.

She is survived by her brother, David McSwain Jr. and wife Rhonda of Shelby, NC a nephew, DC McSwain III of Shelby, NC, a great nephew, Colton McSwain of Shelby, NC, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Born May 12, 1962 in Gaston County, Kathy was the daughter of the late David Carroll McSwain and Patsy Jean Knight McSwain and was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Virginia Knight and Hillard and Genelia McSwain.

Miss McSwain worked for many years in retail. Kathy was a breast cancer survivor. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
