Keep Shelby Beautiful Big Tree & Goofiest Tree Contest
Keep Shelby Beautiful (KSB) is celebrating the City’s tree heritage by conducting the 2012 Big Tree & Goofiest Looking Tree Contest!
The contest has begun and will end on March 16, which is North Carolina Arbor Day.
Winners of the contest will be announced on Saturday, April 28 at the Arts on the Square Festival with the Mayor presenting the awards to the winners and runners up.
KSB has been promoting trees as a resource for beautification for many years and recognizes Shelby’s great trees contribute to the attractiveness and livability of the community.
This year the contest includes the Goofiest Looking Tree  category (check out www.cityofshelby.com/ksb for examples of goofy looking trees). Participants can enter a nomination for the Biggest Tree and/or the Goofiest Looking Tree categories. Nominated trees must be located in the Shelby City limits or ETJ area. The past winners of the Big Tree Contest are not eligible to be nominated for this year’s contest.
Big Tree & Goofiest Looking Tree Contest nomination forms  and contest rules are available online at www.cityofshelby.com/ksb or by contacting KSB Coordinator, Mary Byrnes at 704-484-6829.
