Keep Shelby Beautiful Commission (KSB) would like to thank all those who participated in Keep America Beautiful’s 2010 Great American Cleanup. From March to June, more than 200 area volunteers, with over 700 volunteer hours, were part of the nation’s largest cleanup, beautification and community improvement program in the country.

KSB’s community-wide spring clean up event was very successful. Over 44,000 pounds of litter, debris and bulky waste was cleaned up along 68 miles of road way and 400 pounds of plastic, glass and metal containers were collected for recycling. There were also several beautification projects conducted throughout the City that included planting trees, flowers and cleaning up vacant lots in local neighborhoods.

KSB applauds the efforts of these volunteers to reduce litter, recycle, and beautify the neighborhoods, which helps to bring about a cleaner, greener, safer and more beautiful community for all to enjoy! Pictured below are two groups who participated in the Great American Cleanup events in Shelby.
