On Saturday, March 17th, Keep Shelby Beautiful, with twenty-one volunteers, conducted a litter sweep along West Marion Street near Highway 74 and on the grounds between the Ingles Grocery Store on Highway 74 and the First Broad River.
The volunteers worked for several hours picking up glass, plastic, and aluminum, old tires, paper, and various other types of trash that had been carelessly discarded by others. One HALF-TON of litter and recyclables was picked up, sorted and properly disposed of by the volunteers.
These volunteers who showed their love for the community by their service were: Bonnie and Randy Sweeting, Charles and Harvey Hamrick, Julie, Mike, Jenna and Sarana Brame, Catee-Blythe, Beau and Walt Scharer; Young Life members - Kayla Powell, Krista Powell, Grace Hoyle, Tori Horn, Tia Page, Mackenzie Wright along with their leader, Marywinn Amaya and Wiley Smith, Don Costner, and Don Byrnes.
Keep Shelby Beautiful knows that clean communities are not just nice to look at – they are economically vibrant places where people want to live, work, shop and play. Service to the community is the ultimate declaration of love for where you live and for the people you share it with. Volunteer service is an important way that anyone can contribute to improving the quality of life in the community.
