Kenneth Ray Johnson, 85 of Shelby passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025 at his residence.

Kenneth was born on April 18,1940 in Shelby, North Carolina and was son of the late Erastus Johnson and Irene Canipe Johnson. He retired from Fiber Industries as a warehouse supervisor after thirty-seven years of service and also served in the Army as a Chaplain's Assistant. Kenneth loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attended Landmark Baptist Church. He was an avid Bass fisherman, enjoyed working in the yard and helping others anytime he could. Dad's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ernest Johnson, Quinton Johnson, and Jerry Johnson and his sister, Clara Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years Virginia W. Johnson; three daughters, Lisa R. Johnson of Shelby, LeAnn Johnson of Shelby and Phyllis Johnson Clay and husband, Jerry of Raleigh; grandson, Brandon Clay of Raleigh; and sister, Marie Odom of Shelby.

The family offers a special thank you to his wonderful and loving caregivers, Dorothy Whisnant, Betty Jones, Leisa Jones, Dianne Bratton, Erica Whisnant, Santana Whisnant, Keisha Ross and Via Health Partners (Hospice Cleveland County).

A graveside service will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park on Thursday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Allen Davis officiating.
