Kenneth Robert Beam

Kenneth Robert Beam, 78, of Casar, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

Born in Cleveland County on October 4, 1943, he was a son of the late Robert Lafayette Beam and Sara Hazel Mace Beam. He was retired from PPG after 37 years as a computer programmer analyst. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a good and faithful servant.

He was a member of Casar Masonic Lodge 579 where he served as secretary for 27 years, and was past District Deputy Grand Master for 3 years. Kenneth was honored by the Casar Lodge with the Secretary of Distinction in 2008. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Charlotte where he was honored with his 33rd Degree, and a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple where he served as ritual cast member for many years.

After his retirement Kenneth began working with pottery, and became an accomplished potter. He also spent many hours working on his farm tinkering with his tractors, lawnmowers and other farm equipment and riding the fields with his best dog Brodie.

Kenneth was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be remembered by many as a true friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Kirby Beam.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Cheryl Martin Beam; daughter, Laura Beam Shuford and husband, Clint of Polkville; granddaughter, Serra Bomer and husband, Russell of Charlotte and one sister-in-law, Lynda Beam of Savannah, GA.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Pisgah Baptist Church Family Life Center from 1:00PM to 2:00PM.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 2:00PM at Pisgah Baptist Church with the Dr. Eric Davis officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
