Kenneth Robert Childers Sr.

Kenneth Robert Childers Sr., 94, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side on January 01, 2023 at his home.

He was born in Cherokee County, SC, son of the late Samuel Teal and Myrtle Mauney Childers and was preceded in death by his first wife, Alda Faye Childers. Robert was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ray and James Childers, one sister, Annie Mae Berry and his son in law, Butch Ramsey.

Robert served his country faithfully as a corporal in the US Army in the Korean War.

He was a wonderful provider for his family having worked more than 20 years at Margrace Mill and then retiring from FMC Lithium after 27 years of service. Mr. Childers believed in hard work and was an avid farmer and commercial chicken producer. He was a longtime member of Oak View Baptist Church where he served as deacon for more than 30 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His dedication to his family, guidance, and love will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him.

Children: Bobby Childers and wife Darlene, Kings Mountain, NC and

Judy Childers Ramsey, Martinez, GA

Stepchildren: Elizabeth McGinnis, Laura Titshaw and husband Dave, and Julie Taylor and husband Danny

Sister: Mary Goforth, Kings Mountain, NC

Grandchildren: Laura Thieben (Jake), Kenny Childers, Lee Ramsey, Alex Childers (Landon)

Step-Grandchildren: Mary Newton (Adam), Daniel Robinson (Mandy), Toby Bollinger, and Nathalie Combs

FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Oak View Baptist Church with Reverends Wayne Brazzell and Billy Cooper officiating

VISITATION: Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:50 PM prior to the service in the fellowship hall of Oak View Baptist Church

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Childers' memory may be made to Oak View Baptist Church at 1517 York Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086 or to Hospice of Cleveland County at 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150
