We mournfully announce the passing of Kimmy Dean Dover, 59, of Shelby, NC. Kim passed away on April 10th, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Kim was born to Don and Betty Dover, on February 23rd, 1963 in Shelby, NC, where he was a lifetime resident. Kim attended Burns High, where he was an outstanding athlete, excelling in football and wrestling which took him to State Championship. Kim followed his dad's footsteps in physical conditioning and assisted his father in operating the Iron Bar Gym. Kim was also employed as a brick mason for 30 years. Over the past 10 years, Kim's priority has been a servant of God in his church, family and community by singing in the church, visiting the sick, inspirational support through social media and sharing his garden produce with anyone in need.

One of Kim's greatest passions in life was music. An avid guitarist, he spent countless hours perfecting his ability. Kim played in multiple bands, running sounds system, lead guitarist, and lead soloist in the community and throughout the Carolinas and Tennessee. In the last 10 years, Kim's passion was to use his musical talents to worship God.

When Kim wasn't playing the guitar, he could be found hiking, fishing, gardening and a variety of other outdoor activities or spending time with his family and friends.

Kim joins his father and mother, Don and Betty Dover in Heaven. He is survived by his Wife, Tonda Putnam, children, Aaron Dover (Amy), Alex Dover (Eric), Angel Putnam, Brooke Greene (Brad), Casey Putnam-Riddle (Marcus), Jesse Putnam (Mikaela), Trey Owens (Erica), Nikki Owens-Hopper (Matt), siblings Tim Dover (Brenda), Donald Ray Dover (Sue) Tracey Peavey (Delacy) and grandchildren, Memphis, Nola, Elijah, Kendall, Allie, Alana, Gage, Alora, Brylee, Brayton, Christopher, Owen, Wyatt and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Cecil Burton Funeral home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00PM and the service will follow at 2:00pm in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to Wendover Hospice in Shelby, to honor Kim.
